Dr. Kelly Powers, a Fox News contributor and surgeon, died Sunday after battling brain cancer. She was 45 years old, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.

Powers had been diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2020. The disease is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

An online obituary from Holmdel Funeral Home confirmed that Dr. Kelly Powers passed away in New Jersey. Additionally, the funeral home scheduled a visitation for Thursday.

In recent years, Powers lived in Colts Neck with her family. The New York Daily News reported the location.

Dr. Kelly Powers became a well-known medical expert on television. She frequently appeared on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, NBC, and CBS.

Viewers recognized her from appearances on Fox News programs such as Red Eye. She also appeared regularly on Fox Business.

Born on May 13, 1979, in Yonkers, Powers pursued higher education in New York. She attended Baruch College in New York City.

She later studied at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Additionally, she earned a master’s degree in science from the University of San Francisco.

Powers also completed residency programs at Georgetown University and Boston University. These programs helped shape her medical career.

Dr. Kelly Powers Diagnosis and Cancer Fight

In 2020, Dr. Kelly Powers received a diagnosis of glioblastoma. The cancer is known for being highly aggressive.

Initially, she underwent surgery to remove a tumor. For a time, the treatment appeared successful.

However, the cancer later returned earlier this year. Fox media colleague Cheryl Casone shared that update.

Despite the diagnosis, Powers continued to fight the illness. She underwent three surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.

During that period, she also experienced the joy of becoming pregnant. She later gave birth to her son, Bennett.

A GoFundMe page noted that Powers often joked about her situation. She referred to herself as “the luckiest unlucky girl.”

The obituary described Dr. Kelly Powers as a compassionate person. It said she could make friends wherever she went.

She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went,” the obituary stated. It also said she loved helping others.

The obituary noted that Powers was an accomplished doctor and surgeon. However, it emphasized that her family meant the most to her.

Powers is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, and their young son, Bennett.

A funeral service for Dr. Kelly Powers will take place Friday at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank, New Jersey.
