Following the news of Pam Bondi’s sacking by President Trump, Colbert took to the Late Show to wish her an Epstein-themed goodbye as she heads to a private sector role
Stephen Colbert has some parting words for US Attorney General Pam Bondi after she was fired by President Donald Trump. Colbert addressed the news of Bondi’s firing during his Late Show episode on Thursday, April 2, in which he launched a scathing attack on the former AG. Speaking to viewers, Colbert said, “Speaking of human waste, just a few hours ago, we learned that President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“Now listen, in tribute to Pam Bondi, I offer this heartfelt farewell…”, continued Colbert before he pulled out a letter addressed to her in which almost all the words were blacked out. It comes after Bondi’s net worth skyrocketed since her axe.
The very telling letter was clearly a nod to the many Epstein files that were redacted under Bondi’s jurisdiction as head of the Department of Justice. “Dear Pam,” the letter began, followed by paragraphs of blacked-out text and a sign-off reading: “Sincerely, Stephen Colbert.”
The talk show host went on to declare that while he was glad of Bondi’s sacking, her mishandling of the Epstein files was likely due to direct pressure from the President.

He joked, “Saying that the villain of the Epstein files is Pam Bondi is like saying the lead in Die Hard is the dad from Family Matters”, in reference to the actor Reginald VelJohnson who played Sgt Al Powell in the action movie as well as Carl Winslow in the sitcom.
Making a mockery of her new role in the “private sector”, Colbert broke out into a Trump impression to declare, “It’s a much-needed job at a very important farm upstate.
“There’ll be lots of room for her to run around. Unfortunately, we can’t go visit her. Now let’s go to the strip mall and get you a new attorney general, buddy.”
On Thursday, President Trump took to Truth Social to announce Bondi’s departure from the Department of Justice, writing, “Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.
“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as acting Attorney General.” Trump signed off the announcement: “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

In an online statement posted to X, Bondi said she will work towards transitioning the office to her deputy and that she is excited about her new role.
She did not disclose any details about what her next job will entail, but affirmed she will continue supporting Trump and his administration in her new capacity.
Bondi wrote: “Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history.
“Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custardy of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court.
“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again.”
